Against a backdrop of luxury sedans that have model-crept to obese proportions and a dilution of the brand by a crossover in every shape and size, the BMW M240i is proof that BMW does still build a few driver’s cars. Unlike past M-badged cars, the M240i has remarkable performance to show for wearing the thirteenth letter of the alphabet. It is only a fraction of a second slower than its M2 sibling and has exclusive options in the form of M adaptive suspension, M sport brakes, Style 436M wheels, and the M aerodynamics package. It also is available with something the M2 isn’t—all-wheel drive. Driving all four wheels with the ability to split power up to 96% front or rear put the M240i’s price tag just a few thousand dollars beneath the M2. The M240i xDrive is only equipped with the 8-speed ZF sport automatic, but that 8-speed is so good a that it was chosen over the M double-clutch transmission for the new M5. Yes it really is that good—said from a staunch 3-pedal advocate. The M240i xDrive is the BMW that does it all. It will meet and exceed your performance driving enthusiast needs, soak up rush hour traffic with grace, and thrive when the weather turns rotten. It’s one of the few new BMWs that I would own myself, which is why we have one in the hangar.
This 2017 Mineral Grey Metallic M240i xDrive has less than 4,500 miles. It was purchased new at Gebhardt BMW and serviced there. It is in pristine condition; virtually identical condition as the day it was delivered. It retailed for over $55,000, yet has already taken the initial drive-it-off-the-lot depreciation hit, making it one of the best buys on the market. In addition to the standard M240i options, it is extremely well-optioned with the Fineline Stream Wood trim, Premium Package (heated steering wheel, iDrive 5.0 w/ Nav, real-tine traffic info, and more), Harmon Kardon Surround Sound, Adaptive Xenon Headlights, Comfort Access, and Style 436M wheels wearing non-run flat Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber. Both FOBs are included, along with the factory floor mats, BMW cargo net, all owners’ manuals, and the original window sticker. The factory warranty is in place. Its condition is so good that my normal Exterior, Interior, and Mechanical paragraphs can be summed up in one word: pristine. We would like to find a new enthusiast who will appreciate and enjoy it for the next chapter.
