“One of the last true BMWs” –Car and Driver editor-in-chief Tony Quiroga. “The best BMW ever made” –Motor Trend senior features editor Jonny Liberman. Evo Magazine Car of the Year for 2020. The mighty BMW M2 CS! The original F87 M2 was the bone that BMW threw to us Motorsports enthusiasts as the marque model crept its way from M-car purity into larger and heavier models. It got better with the M2 Competition that shared the S55 engine and related components with its F80/F82 M3/M4 brethren. Finally, in 2020, BMW released the pinnacle of the F87 M2 with the M2 CS. The specs were incredible: 444 horsepower version of the S55 wielding a real-world sub-four-second 0-60 time, carbon fiber roof, hood, and factory trim pieces, optional carbon ceramic M Performance brakes, and best of all—a proper 6-speed manual gearbox. The interior was improved with a mix of Alcantara and leather featuring contrasting red stitching and carbon fiber trim. But the best option of all was matte gold wheels that would make even the most hardened old-school BMW M enthusiast blush at first sight. While the controversial boxy styling of the G87 is easing with time, there is a certain timeless elegance to the best iteration of the F87—the M2 CS. And with only 589 examples coming to the United States, they are also quite rare!
This 2020 BMW M2 CS, with only 8,800 miles, looks fantastic in Alpine white over Matte gold wheels. This is one of only 589 M2 CSs delivered to the U.S. market, 85 finished in Alpine white, and 23 in Alpine white with gold wheels. The factory CS gloss black M carbon fiber front splitter, mirror caps, rear spoiler and diffuser, and exposed carbon fiber roof accentuate the white body color and color-matched carbon fiber hood. Inside, the CS-specific Alcantara and carbon fiber trim looks wonderful over M leather seats with contrasting red stitching, M-stripe seatbelts, an M Alcantara steering wheel, and the only gearbox option available—a proper six-speed manual. Other notable options include Harmon Kardon premium sound, 14-way heated/memory seats, Icon adaptive full LED headlights, Apple CarPlay, front and rear cameras, and Parking Distance Control. Upgrades consist of an Auto-solutions short shift kit, Ohlins Road and Track coilovers, and an Active Autowerke exhaust (the original suspension and exhaust are included). It was originally delivered through BMW of Rockville, Maryland, and landed in Colorado in 2021. During its tenure here, it has been dealer-serviced with upgrades done by Black Canyon and SCR Performance under several owners. We are selling it on consignment for the current owner, who is reluctantly selling due to family up-sizing. The condition is pristine, with the only notable imperfection being minor scuffing to the underside of the front splitter. All maintenance and service are up to date, with fresh Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires mounted. As it sits, this is a truly stunning and unique piece of modern BMW history and future classic. With rumors of the new M2 CS being all-wheel-drive with no manual gearbox option, it could also mark the end of an important part of BMW Motorsport’s legacy.
