When the Porsche Cayenne was released in 2002, many Porsche enthusiasts thought that it was the beginning of the end for the brand, but they couldn’t have been more wrong! Not only did it quickly become the best-selling vehicle that Porsche ever produced, it was also the best in its class, easily outperforming competitors such as the BMW X5. This immediate success ensured Porsche’s future financial security, meaning they would be able to keep doing what Porsche does best: make great sports cars. However, don’t let that make you think the Cayenne isn’t a formidable driving machine itself! Sports car-like handling combined with ground-clearance adjustable from 4.6 to 10.8 inches, thanks to the air-suspension, Comfort, Normal, and Sport suspension settings, and Street and Off-Road 4x4 settings means it is as comfortable as it is capable on the street and the dirt. With its 7,716-pound towing capacity, it could even tow your 911 racecar! In 2008, the Cayenne GTS was released, splitting the difference between the S and the Turbo. It featured a slightly lower stance, more aggressive bodywork, quad exhaust tips, a 405-horsepower version of the 4.8-liter V8, and 21-inch wheels.

Summary

 exterior photo

This 2010 Cayenne GTS is finished in Crystal Silver Metallic over a Stone Grey Leather and Alcantara interior with black interior trim. The options list, outlined above, is impressive and optimized to suit the mission of the Cayenne GTS. In addition to the standard kit, this example also comes with 21-inch Cayenne Turbo wheels in addition to the stock Cayenne GTS wheels. It originally left the factory in May of 2009; being one of the last first-generation Cayenne’s to leave the assembly line. It began its life in Florida, where it resided until 2013 with a short stint in Illinois. Shortly thereafter it came to Colorado and was purchased by the third owner, whom we purchased it from. He is the father of a good friend and client (both are long-term PCA members), and he could not have been a better owner for this example. All service records from his ownership are included, dating back to 2014. The records show regular servicing and oil changes, along with significant recent maintenance including valve cover gaskets, camshaft adjuster seals, oil cooler gasket, timing cover gaskets, front crankshaft seal, water pump, intake manifold gaskets, rear driveshaft, and a recent oil change. In 2018 the front bumper cover was damaged. Porsche specialists Stuttgart Auto Body repainted the bumper, grilles, splitter, fender flares and other parts in the vicinity. The Carfax does not report it, but pictures of the damage, along with the receipt are included in the records binder. As it sits, this is an excellent example of a Cayenne GTS that has benefitted from proper care and ownership—a huge consideration for any used Porsche. We would like to find a new owner who will continue that pedigree for the next chapter of its story.

Exterior

2010 Porsche (957) Cayenne GTS exterior photo

The exterior condition of this Cayenne is great, and definitely above average. The Crystal Silver Metallic paint is glossy, with few notable exterior imperfections. It does have some minor scratches and scuffs from daily-driver duty, but the Silver finish easily forgives them. The body is straight, with no sizeable dents or dings. The front bumper is relatively free of the typical rock chips seen on Colorado vehicles, thanks to having been recently repainted. All trim is correct and in-place. The windshield glass is crack-free. The headlights, taillights, side markers, and turn signals are all clear and crack-free, with the exception of the passenger side front signal, which has a small crack. The wheels all have some curb rash and scratching from use. The tires are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+, the fronts are at 50% and we replaced the rear tires in preparation for sale.

Interior

The interior condition is equally good as the exterior. The interior leather is soft, and the alcantara inserts are in great condition. The driver’s side outer bolster has some wear. The rubber door seals are soft and seal quietly. The carpet is clean and free of stains or tears; WeatherTech all-weather floor mats have protected it. All interior functions, options, power accessories, and controls work correctly. The multimedia screen and instrument cluster have no blown out pixels. The trunk carpet is clean and protected by its own all-weather floor mat. The steering wheel is clean with only minor wear. The door cards are all in good shape, although the front window switches have some wear of the finish surrounding them. The center console is clean but does have some of the usual scratching that gloss black trim is prone to. The Bose sound system is fantastic. Two keys and the factory manuals are included with the sale, along with the original window sticker.

Mechanical

 engine photo

This Cayenne GTS has been the recipient of fastidious maintenance. No immediately concerning mechanical issues are present; the only gripe of note is a rear main seal weep to keep an eye on but does not necessitate replacement yet. The air suspension and adjustable damper settings all work flawlessly. The suspension is tight, smooth, and comfortable. In sport mode it firms up for smoother roads or more aggressive driving. There are no driveline or wheel bearing noises or vibrations, thanks to recent replacement of the rear driveshaft. It starts on command, idles smoothly, and pulls very strongly. The transmission shifts smoothly and does not slip or clunk. The brakes, suspension, and all-wheel drive operate exactly as they should. There are no codes or check engine lights.
