In the late-2000s Porsche stunned the world with the release of the Panamera—a luxury Grand Touring four-door sedan. To some it was a blasphemous break of tradition for the automaker most famous for two-door, rear-engined sports cars. To others it was a much-anticipated sporting alternative to BMW and Mercedes’ flagship sedans. To those in the know, it was the realization of a Porsche Grand Touring sedan that traced its roots back to the “989” concept (the four-door 911) and the one-off four-door 928 that appeared in the late ‘80s. The Panamera’s provocative design is polarizing to say the least, but that was in part the result of a CEO who insisted that a tall adult be comfortable in the rear seats. Needless to say, its styling is unapologetically Porsche. Following the initial release of the V8-powered Panamera S, 4S, and Turbo models were the Panamera and Panamera 4 powered by a 300-horsepower direct injection 90-degree V6 engine, derived from the Panamera V8 (not to be confused with the Cayman’s VW sourced powerplant). Mated to the Porsche PDK 7-speed dual clutch gearbox the combination was good for 0 to 60 in 5 seconds; yet achieves fuel economy beyond 20 miles per gallon in mixed driving. Inside the well-appointed cabin, luxury abounds with bespoke materials, unrivaled craftsmanship, and cavernous appointments for its guests. Spend some time with the Panamera and you get the sense that it is truly something special, a unique Grand Touring alternative in a world filled with crossovers. It is more Ferrari FF than BMW 7 Series, but because it is a Porsche you can use it every day and love it!
This 2013 Black over Luxor Beige leather Panamera 4 with 56,500 miles came to us on consignment from a local Porsche enthusiast and Porsche Club of America (PCA) member who’s collection also includes a 911 C4S. In addition to a host of standard options, it is well appointed with black exterior trim, walnut interior trim with aluminum door sills, black instrument gauges, the Bose Audio Package and Surround Sound System, Sirius XM Radio, Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with touch screen interface, navigation, lane change and parking assist, heated seats, and 19-inch Panamera Turbo wheels. An additional set of 18-inch Victor Equipment Black wheels wearing Bridgestone Blizzak snow tires is included. It is a two-owner example, purchased as a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle from Stevinson Imports by the current owner in 2013. That owner is extremely meticulous and detailed, sparing no expense during his stewardship. The records show frequent and consistent dealer services under the current owner with regular oil and fluid changes, suspension components, and warranty items. The last service was in January of this year at 55,800 miles and included a fresh oil service, a PDK transmission service, and a fuel system treatment with BG 44K. The Carfax is clean, but the Autocheck report shows a rear end incident under the first owner’s ownership. The current owner had Porsche of Colorado Springs inspect it (to use a third-party dealer), along with a four-wheel alignment. No notable defects were found, whatever the damage it was not significant. We also paint gauged the entire car and found that the left rear quarter and left rear door have likely been repainted. The paint is a perfect match, done to factory standards and is nearly invisible to the naked eye. All owners’ manuals, and two Panamera-shaped key FOBs. We would like to find a new owner who will care for and appreciate it for the next chapter.
The Black paint is in excellent condition. It has clearly been stored indoors and used in fair weather. The finish is brilliant with only a few minor defects in the form of small scratches and light rock chips on the front bumper cover and fenders. The panel gaps are perfect. All panels paint gauged at between 3 and 6 mils with the exception of the left rear door and left rear quarter panel. The owner reported that he had Stevinson Imports repaint the front bumper cover when he purchased it. A paint gauge report is included in the records. The headlight, indicator and taillight lenses are crystal clear and crack-free. The windshield glass is crack-free with only minor putting, and the side and rear glass is in great shape. The 19-inch Panamera Turbo wheels are in good shape with only a few minor imperfections? The Continental Conti Sport Contact 3 tires are nearing the end of their life with 40% front and the rears at the wear bars. The Victor Equipment Black wheels are nearly perfect and the Bridgestone Blizzak Snow tires have 90% tread remaining with 2016 DOT dates.
The interior is also in excellent shape. There are no odors. The carpet is free of stains or rips and is protected by Porsche floor mats. The driver’s side floor mat does have typical wear. The seat leather is soft and there is no excessive bolster-wear, only light creasing. The dashboard has no notable defects and the records show the analog clock being replaced once under warranty. The steering wheel leather is fantastic and the buttons and paddle shifters all function correctly. There is one minor wear spot on the right paddle shifter. The instrument cluster shows no warnings or check lights, the multi-function display gauge has no failed pixels. The Bose Surround Sound system sounds amazing. The Porsche PCM display has no failed pixels, nor do the stereo and dual climate control screens. All center console functions work correctly. The Panamera got a Sport button, even without the Sport Chrono package. All power functions, door locks, window switches, seat motors, and seat heaters function properly. The power rear hatch has a soft close feature that can be finicky on occasion. The heat blows warm and the air conditioning blows cold. The rear cargo net and cover are present. The tool kit and owners’ manuals are present, along with two Panamera-shaped key FOBs.
The 3.6-liter V8 engine fires on command, idles smoothly, and pulls strongly to redline. There are no fluid leaks or drips, nor any oil or coolant smells. The 2013 model year Panamera 4’s had updated Variocam bolts that were not affected by the recalls for the 2010-2012 model years. The PDK dual-clutch transmission shifts smoothly and on command through the shift knob and paddle shifters (which you can shift up or down with either paddle switch). The transmission just received a fresh service as well. The suspension is firm, yet compliant and the brakes are comically good with plenty of life left. The all-wheel drive functions correctly and when combined with the Blizzak snow tires it will claw you through the snow like a cat on Velcro! There are no system check or warning alerts. We ensure it passes and pay for emissions in the State of Colorado. As it sits, it is a turn-key Panamera 4. We would like to find a buyer who will continue to care for it and appreciate it for years to come.
