2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack SE Wagon exterior photo

The MK7 Volkswagen Golf is one of the best new cars you can buy. We aren’t new car fans at Glen Shelly, but one of the few that we recommend unequivocally is the MK7 Golf—be it in base form all the way up to the GTI and Golf R. With the release of the MK7 Golf, Volkswagen brought the wagon back under the Golf moniker as the Golf SportWagen. If you wanted more standard options, slightly more ground clearance and all-wheel drive, you could get the Golf Alltrack. The Alltrack fits a sweet spot in the dwindling wagon segment (shame on crossovers). It isn’t as bloated or as Subaru-ish as, well, the Subaru Outback, but it has more than enough space for your recreational needs and a sophisticated all-wheel drive system in VW’s 4Motion system. More importantly, it is German, so it delivers something Subaru lost generations ago—proper driving dynamics. The level of refinement in the MK7 Golf Alltrack is more Audi than Volkswagen, yet it costs considerably less than its up-market brethren despite sharing many similar parts. Standard kit in the Alltrack includes selectable drive modes, durable leatherette seats, and a 6.5-inch touchscreen. More importantly, it is an all-wheel drive wagon that can be had with a manual gearbox—something even BMW has given up on. In a world where numb, bloated, and infotainment-centric crossovers are becoming the norm, the MK7 Golf Alltrack is a refreshing alternative for the sporting driver. Thank you Volkswagen for keeping the faith!

This 2017 Tornado Red over Beige Leatherette Alltrack SE has only 40,500 miles. We purchased it from Volkswagen North America in a bundle of low-mileage Alltracks. It features the panoramic sunroof, Fender audio system, Composition Media 6.5-inch touch screen infotainment system, heated seats, and host of other options SE options. It was originally sold here in Colorado on December 27, 2016 and remained here until moving to Oregon in 2018 with the original owner. It remained with them until landing with us early this year as a one-owner example. Overall the condition is very good, the body is straight and there are no notable cosmetic defects. In April of 2020 it was involved in an accident that resulted in the driver’s side, roof, and hood being repainted, which is reported on the Carfax. We paint-gauged the entire vehicle and inspected the underside for any unibody damage, of which there was none (we are happy to put it in air for your own inspection). After that, we completed a comprehensive 40k-mile service including having independent Volkswagen specialists Autosport Werks do a DSG transmission service and replace a seeping water pump, while we did the engine air filter, cabin air filter, spark plugs, and a fresh oil change. The tires have 50% tread remaining and the brake pads have over 80% remaining. The only mechanical gripe is a slight weep at the right front strut insert, but it does not warrant replacement at this time, nor should it in the medium term future. As it sits this is a turn-key freshly serviced Alltrack and an outlier in a population of mundane colors. Two key fobs and all owners’ manuals are included in the sale. We would like to find a new owner who will write the next chapter of its story and enjoy it for years to come.
